    NZDA Hastings

Are there any NZDA members here from Hastings?

I have filled in the application form on the website and it told me to check my email so I did but nothing there a day later. Is it a manual process? if so I am happy to wait im just not sure if I put my email address in properly.

    Thanks

I did the same a couple of weeks ago with BOP branch. Have gotten a few emails they send out to all members, but no 'welcome' type email. I believe membership may go before the next committee meeting.

I’d give it a few days. I was on committee with Hastings branch and we did no vetting so I expect it will still be the same.
Last club meeting was the Wednesday just been so next should be 1st May @ 7:30PM should you want to follow up in person.
Message me if you don’t get anywhere in a week or two and I can get you to the right people.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I applied to join NZDA about four months ago and followed up the application last week. The reply from Wellington stated they were too busy to process any application ‘at this time’ and it would be several weeks (more months?) before they would.

That's terrible. It is renewal time so they will be processing all current members and branches but still should do better.
Which branch did you apply to? Hit them up at a local level. Your local branch should do better.

Am in Rotorua but all applications must be sent to Wellington who will then do their bit before sending back to local branch.

I see now that I'm on a PC your in Hamurana. I was living in Kaharoa for my school years. Nice spot. Anyway, I digress.
Wellington pushes the pencil for your local branch. They are paid to do this by your local. If I was a branch, and a prospective member got this sort of run around (from my paid contractor) I'd want to know about it. It's not good enough. We need all the members we can get and to put up any obstacle is poor form. Especially in this current environment. You're on FB? Give them a stir that way too.

They're especially under pressure at the moment as they're just wrapping up moving the whole national membership database across to new database software. This took a bit longer than they hoped, and ended up delaying a lot of the renewals etc. I understand they're getting back on top of it now, and it should be a lot better for future years.

    Just one of those things.

I’m generally a patient person and have one more Ave of enquiry so I can access the local range.

It’s exactly as Striker has described above. The Nat office has been learning how to use the new system, coupled with a few bugs to iron out. This has caused some significant delays, but it should be all systems go next time around.

I applied and paid the fees for the BOP NZDA about 4 weeks ago. I got an email acknowledging payment on Monday and my membership card and other info arrived in the mail yesterday.
