If your new to it you really need compass/map/GPS and know how to use them! It’s rolling country in there and with all the old tram lines easy to get miss placed. The sign in there used to start livening up towards the roar as the stags in the bush fight it out with the ones on the Farm
I’ve shot two off the old slip at the start/top of the road beforeotherwise go for it. Keep it nice and slow! If your sweating your going to fast. Move your head as much as possible bend down look round trees look for shape not the whole deer. Once you see one they just start to stick out, like a penny dropping.
Just be 110% in identifying and your firing zone. As it can get busy in there and you don’t want to fire back towards the highway
If you can get someone to drop and pick you up then that saves on the car pack trouble.
If I had my choice I’d mountain bike into Mountfords road. Think it’s the next access down the range. Then fly camp in there. But you need to go to the tarseal road end as the first one on the right is No access and they will slash your tires also last time I was there they had a P lab goingcops have closed that but you have been warned.
True road end is best and the farmer with the house up on the right is a good guy. He won’t give you permission to shoot on his land but knock on his door anyway and ask for any advice on do don’ts. Hope this helps and good luck.
