    Old mans 50th

My old man is turning 50 this September and I wanted to organise a special fly in trip for him somewhere here on the South Island. He's a great bloke that works too much, and refuses to give himself a holiday so I wanted to surprise him by taking him and one of his good mates into the hills to bag a few animals in some nice country. As far as I know hes never been in a chopper either and would be over the moon. He hasn't been out hunting for quite a while (20ish years) and would hold a below average level of fitness. Theres going to be four of us going for 3 nights. I've been looking at a couple options on the West Coast and a couple in APNP.

Clearly I want to have my cake and eat it too - I'm looking for a hut in a reasonably picturesque area with decent animal numbers and somewhat achievable terrain. Going to be very weather dependant so I want to have a few solid options in different areas of the country so that if the weather turns to shit we still may be able to visit another area. I think making sure the terrain is easy - moderate is important as I want him to enjoy himself and not feel like hes sucking in air through a straw.

I'm lucky enough to work a job that means I have access to enough gear to cover everyone.

He's in Nelson and I'm in Christchurch and will consider all options about as far south as Dunedin.

If anybody was kind enough to have some suggestions as to areas or options I may have overlooked, I would greatly appreciate them.

Heres a picture of the silly old man who stills thinks hes young enough to play rugby.
