Hi Team,
Looking for some info on Oronui Hut Raukumara range. I read the doc info, but wondering if anyone knows if there is a meat safe or if I should sort some other way to keep meat fly free and cool.
If anyone has any information on hunting there that would be much appreciated. I've scoured the doc maps and read the blurb on spot X hunting book on it. I think may main question would be if it's worth hunting the bush and tops and if\ how they are best accessible.

Following closely as id love to hunt in raukumaras myself.
best check with DOC first - the area is under a funded animal control program run by local IWI - may have received aerial and ground control of deer - big no huge country and steep - use topo maps to get best routes high up - where you will need to be if roar hunting it -take a portable meat safe -I dont believe there is a safe but only stopped in there on a SAR mission - given the funded animal control work you may have company at the hut - but did hold some decent reds
There's no meat safe, and there's also no tops worth hunting, mostly leatherwood. Should be easy enough to get a deer in the creek or off a slip despite the control going on in there.
