    Otaki Forks Hunting

Just wondering if anyone knows what access is like past the slip at otaki forks?

How far past the campsite would I need to walk before getting into the “zone” 😂

    Cheers

Its pretty busy in there in the weekends. Some guys start before the campsite using thermals on the faces on the way in, a couple of the locals ride mountainbikes in from the carpark to get to the swingbridge . I was talking with a hunter who had three on his thermal not far from the first swingbridge but none would give him a clean shot.

I think the slip is being removed atm.

And beware that it's still popular with overnight campers, college school trips and hikers during the day especially now that the weather is getting warmer. Not sure YTYY is still a popular hut tramp, but the southern crossing still is. The wind decides the direction you go...left, right or straight ahead

My how times have changed. In the 70's if we bumped into two other groups when we did a Southern Crossing the place was 'like London town" !

Are there many goats in the creeks and slips around Otaki Forks?
