Thread: Oteake conservation park, Mackenzie country

Looking at planing a trip into here in the next month or so. Any one been in here recently and had any luck? Have been studying the maps and trying to figure out a spot where not many people would go too as there seems to be a lot of 4wd access through out the area which makes it difficult, plus no doubt it probably gets hammered by the choppers?
Any advice would be great, or pm me if you like with that secret spot

It gets smashed normally, I hear there are a lot of deer on the northern side at the moment.
Yes the chopper is coming, before the roar I'm told.
I was on the hawkden end on southern faces last wknd, but very little fresh sign, couple of week old stag prints.
It is a good place to hunt tho.

Cheers, yeah it seems most places get hammered around here at the moment. Have been up the Ahuriri a couple of times over the last month or so and there isnt a lot of fresh sign in there either. It seems the summer trampers may have scared most animals into hiding? Hence trying to find a spot off the beaten track
