The Other TV Show
Well I sat down and watched NZ Hunting Adventures last night and when it finished it went on to another supposedly hunting show , and what a load of crap it was ...the host has no idea what's going on and they had supposedly stumbled on to a group of Chamois who were clearly stuffed with there tongues hanging out ,they looked like they had coarsed these animals up with a machine , he further went on to either miss or wound a Bull from the river bed and never recovered it .
I couldn't believe what I was watching to be honest .

Excuse my ignorance, but what other show (not up to date with NZ hunting shows at the moment)?
-
Wild Kai Legends.
He hit the bull but obviously not perfectly, you could see the blood explode out of it's neck area. Probably needed to be edited better, however it just shows that sometimes shit happens and you loose an animal in the bluffs or nasty creeks. Still not a great look on national TV.

Sounds like come hunt with me....not worth watching

I agree, it's unwatchable. I tried watching a few episodes on demand once, and never got through a full one. Then I tried last night too, hoping it had improved a bit since the earlier seasons, but was very disappointed. I made it through about 20 minutes to the point where he was running after the chamois which were only about 50m away but somehow so buggered they could hardly run away. Was glad he never talk a shot at them.

The last presenter in Wild Kai Legends was good; pretty humble and overall it was a good show. The first show of this series wasn't that flash. Last night's was a shocker (the running at game and rushed shooting has been a consistant theme in the 2 episodes).
Still; it's an Academy Award winner compared to "Hunt With Me". The worst one of those was the Wahine Toa woman who gut shot 2 deer by taking offhand shots without a rest at 200m while absolutely puffed out..... Of course they didn't find the deer. You could sense that it was a "shit we need to shoot a deer for tv" moment. That was a really bad look for tv and the non-hunting public.
Whereas I always found Hunting with Tui a good watch. She was humble, listened to what she was told and involved the entire family. She was a really good public ambassador for hunting. But it also shows just how important a good presenter is. Take Hunting Aotearoa for example.... Old "Gut Shot Mutts" always wanted to take the shot no matter what; often with less than optimal outcomes. Glen Osborne on the other hand would sometimes not carry a rifle and decline shots that he wasn't comfortable with. You could see that he knew it wasn't all about him.

and I'm guessing it's your tax payer $ going to pay for making it.
-
couldnt watch it all - will stick with the Hunter Adventures, Hunters Club and Meat Eater
-
Is hunters club still on?
-
I don’t bother with anything other then NZ Hunter and the RSTHC on TV. Nothing else comes close.

At first i really couldn't get in to meat eater but the last few seasons are actually pretty good. They do the odd catch and cook episode which is good for new ways to cook what you shoot. As for that wild kai "legends", I gave it a watch last week until he took a shot at a buck that i suspect he wounded and they called it a clean miss. They were looking for signs blood but had it all on camera and didn't bother checking the footage? Gut shot and didn't want to show it I reckon.

@Dyls It certainly had that hollow sound of a gut shot.......... Especially after he mentioned umpteen times how good a shot he was throughout the programme...... His entire attitude seemed wrong to me

Missed a fallow buck the other week. Such a terrible shot and a shit show but we fund it no doubt. Agree re Hunting with Tui and some presenters on Hunting Aotearoa. Heard one of their presenters lost his FAL

Agree with everyone on here, watched the start of wild kai legends after nz hunter couple weeks ago, what a joke of a show, putting that crap on tv does not help our image at all. Why the television networks allow it is beyond me. NZ hunter and the hunters club are excellent and credit to them for what they manage to put out there, its top stuff.
