    overseas website to buy scopes

Thought this might be interesting. Came across this website which ships to NZ
The Rifle Scope Store - Improve Your Shooting Today!
even with the current conversion rate, prices are cheap. specially the range finders.

Has anyone ever bought anything from here? The prices are attractive.

Always good to have another site to check prices against.
    I use these guys.
Webyshops | Your Personal Gear Outfitter: Hunting Shooting Camping & More

There service is great and prices are sharp.
Stuff normally on my door step 3-4 working days latter.

Yes, have bought several scopes from them that were not available here in NZ. Excellent service.

Have bought from the rifle scope store several times. They have been outstanding. Good service and awesome prices esp on leupold. Make sure you get rings at the same time, which I forgot to do and had to cough twice for shipping once I figured it out. I did find it a tad cheaper to buy bushnell (med range) scopes on amazon and shipping was pretty cheap

Found the prices on Leupold not much different to NZ from the The Rifle Scope Store; that is, by the time you pay freight and GST. However, their prices on Nikon and Weaver are excellent. Don't ask them to put a lower value on the scope because you'll get a firm "no can do".

Camerland in NYC has superb service too and has big discounts on like new demo optics. In fact, I've heard that they are brand new just that the box might have been opened. Cameras, Binoculars, Spotting Scopes, Rifle Scopes - Camera Land NY They offer a lot of high end optic brands too. There are a couple of brands that these companies won't ship to NZ, such as Leica, because of the International dealer cartel type arrangement.

Very good to deal with, I got a demo leica range finder form them,it looked brand new.Not a mark on it, I think maybe selling new stuff as demo lets them discount the MRP and export (just a guess.)
    highly recommend them

Hey guys has anyone had any issues shipping a scope to nz? On ordering it is red flagged (government export restriction) .... I have purchased a scope years ago and pretty sure that info was not a issue. I am looking at a Vortex Diamond Tactical 3-14x42. Cheers for any help

I was cautioned by Customs one day that certain scopes would attract their attention when exporting/importing. Run of the mill scopes obviously used for recreational activities do not concern them too much but anything that could be considered as a sniper scope raises eyebrows. I took that to mean that ordering your average vari-power scope with a standard reticle wasn't an issue, but ordering a high-power scope with all the bells n' whistles and a reticle that could be used for tactical long-range shooting purposes could present problems.

I'm not here to argue the ignorance of officials to an ever-evolving sport, but in these days of heightened awareness over terrorist activities you can understand that trying to order any scope with the word "Tactical" in its baseline description is possibly going to give you trouble.

There will always be somebody who can prove they didn't have any trouble importing such a scope but knowing my luck I simply chose not to test the system. On the plus side my recent purchase of a low-end Burris Droptine from The Rifle Scope Store went very smoothly with delivery in 12 days from ordering and best of all I saved $130, or about 30% cheaper than I could buy it in NZ... if I could buy it in NZ.
