Thread: Owawenga road end

It backs on to the Rangitoto Range just wondering if anyone has hunted there as I would be keen to go and have a look there with it being so close to home and going by the topo map it looks like a decent area to hunt I know at the other end you have to go through rangitoto station which you have to be a member of te awamutu NZDA to go through. Any info regarding the area would be appreciated (I am not wanting info on your spot X)

Hey mate. That area has just been 1080'd not too long ago. If you were to head towards Rangitoto, I would try to track down a quad. I
Think the track has had a few washouts and would be unsuitable for a 4x4. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

hence the thread to find out from those who know the area better than me I won't be taking the wagon off road driving up there would only be going as far as the actual road itself goes before beating the feet.

Drive to end of road, but not right to end.can walk the loop track, not a bad walk takes bout three hours I think. There is a big washout that was unsuitable for even quads to get past last time I was there. U will know it when u see it. Not bad bush, gets a bit of use tho.
