Interesting. The chappie I used to give tails to was a frenchman named Johnny Angel.
Dunno about those larger type wallabies in Waimate, but any pets we had from the small type in Rotorua were really afraid of dogs. Seen them die of fright when a dog approached outside the pen. Sensitive as hares I reckon. Never give them whole milk or ice cream. Their metabolism can't handle the stuff. Used to feed the joeys using an eyedropper loaded with glucose and homogenised milk. Later, they would happily sit up on their haunches and hold an apple in their hands and munch away quite nicely.
