Or keep all cattle and sheep indoors under lock and key so they donj't get stolen .
    Or,,,,,,,,,,the list is endless .

i suspect the insurance industry wouldn't go a bundle on his ides. A great loss of premium payments from all of use who don't get burgled.

Done. As an aside, the Police are very aware of the issue. My eldest daughters partner is a homicide detective and he (and others) have just been seconded to help clear the vetting backlog. Not a good use of that particular resource in my opinion as I would have thought that redirecting the efforts of road police sitting in a car with a radar gun would have been a better decision.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

The last time the the big-wig cops ‘redirected’ the cops doing traffic to do other stuff and spent traffic allocated money on other projects they got a roasting and a threat of withdrawing of funding as quite a chunk of the funding cops get is specifically for traffic stuff.

(A bit oversimplified but you get the pictures.)

What is the point of this petition ?

It is poorly worded, and even if by miracle it gets enough signatures to be noticed, what real change will it result in ?

The petitioner is asking for an inquiry... Whoopee.

If he had drafted it along the lines of "require the Minister of Police to direct licensing authorities to provide an automatic extension to a license provided the applicant had submitted their renewal application before the expiry date" it might actually go somewhere and deal with the issue.

    I'm a cynic.

Petitions are in most cases non-binding and not worth the paper they may be printed on. Government and Gov. departments ignore them.

Only things that matter these days are court cases, and even then parliament can't be overruled by the courts.

    So basically we are f**ked.

Even so, petitions still raise awareness amongst MP"s.
