I find it's ironic your clearly acting the hard man but you are scared of hunting challenging terrain and think those that do are anxious the whole time. I carry a PLB just in case the things I don't control go wrong. Never used it but have been close.

I would also get bored shitless if I hunted such boring country that there was no risk (no such thing anyway). I'm glad you have been lucky but acting like it was anything other than luck and that you had complete control of how it played out is in fact being obtuse.

In all honesty the way you are talking makes me think you should get out and hunt more and stop being a miserable old prick claiming superiority due t9 not carrying a PLB. If you have never had any close calls in 50 years of hunting your either getting senial and forgetting or you didn't really hunt that much.

No, I'm not, I just said I wasn't. I know what obtuse means. And now you think the best way to disagree with me is to imagine what I am up to in some kind of derogatory fantasy? Look, I'm not saying you shouldnt have one, have three. I am saying that I am not as anxious about the world as you are. And articles like that do not cause me to reevaluate what I do.

I knew it was going to go this way.

To be fair @Stocky did not say you were being obtuse. Which means-[QUOTE]annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand./QUOTE]

He said deliberately obtuse, which means-[QUOTE]Deliberately obtuse: This phrase emphasizes the intentional nature of pretending not to understand.
    /QUOTE]

And that does fit I think.

Again, I know exactly what the phrase means; it's a cliche he is using to characterise my posts in a way that suits himself, to diminish my point of view. But, disagreeing with you is not the same thing as deliberately pretending to not understand you. I get you fine. I dont agree with you.

Jesus look, it's a recreational activity, no one is forcing you to do it dangerously. Deer hunting is not hazardous. Working in fishing, in logging, or on the waterfront is hazardous. Scuba diving is hazardous.

Id say if the point was to diminish your point of view, then there are far more direct words that would achieve that. That was pretty polite. Look you have said twice you knew you would get this type of reaction. There are words for that too. Some of them cross reference.

You have given an opinion. Its wrong. It's wrong because it is dismissive of others and how they chose to participate in the activities mentioned, Because the comparisons given are ill fitting, and because it is reductive.

What does it matter how supposedly polite it was? It was dismissive and derogatory. You are now trying to be the same. My opinion is not wrong, it's my opinion. I even explained why I had it. You could discuss that but thats not as satisfying as attacking someone on the internet right?

Read my first post again, since you are taking the trouble to be aggressive. I am not excluding anything I am giving my point of view. I even explained why I had it. Since then I have been merely defending myself from unprovoked personal attacks. It's called holding off the fuckwits.

Im not trying. I can't help it and dont care if that's how you feel though. I read your first post, and the rest. Over all they are dismissive and derogatory. Stop being a hypocrite.

Your stance on this is wrong. It's that simple. Stop making out you are a victim here and just admit you are being silly.

A PLB to me is like a form of insurance. If people don't like it don't use it.
I don't want to be smashed up on day one of a multi day hunt thinking "it's going to be x number of days until someone starts thinking I might be in the crap".
    So I carry one.

I believe I have. Post #38 and 43. They are quite clear. Mistakes and accidents happen. even the best planning can go awry. It's sensible to include a PLB as part of that planning for yourself and for others.
Skiting that you dont need one is not sensible.
Telling people who have got lost or had an accident, and that are speaking from experience, when you admit you havnt had that experience yourself, is not sensible or good advice.
@Twodiffs - Speaking for myself I am being blunt, but that's not impolite, and nothing I have said is insulting or profane. Probably 90+% of my interactions with Mr Duxbury over the last 20 odd years has been positive.

But in this particular case Im disagreeing with his opinion and his manor in putting it across. I believe that's suitable behaviour for a forum.

Absolutely essential for anyone who spends alot of time in the outdoors

I have not given anyone any advice, I have given my opinion. I am tranquil with you disagreeing with me, but you should make an argument for it, not just insult me. I am not interested in trading insults, I want to know want you think.

I carry a PLB all the time simply because it will save my life or someone else's if need be so please stop bitching and get real serious IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE and strap it to your body where it is easy to get at and not get ripped off because that is what happened to me after falling down a steep bank in zero vis shit wet bush and breaking my femur.
