    Police Crackdown (Under the Radar)

Probably not a good idea to get caught speeding on your way out hunting, or have a domestic that the neighbours can hear.
Reliable word is that if the police are involved and have any reason to suspect that you might not be "A Fit and Proper Person" can result in your FA being temporarily/permanently suspended, depending on the seriousness.
Really got to look at the underlying theme in all of this.

    Kinda always been the case.

I know of one young fella who applied for FAL and a check on him found he had 8(?) or so speeding tickets over 18 months.

Told to try again in two years when (hopefully) his ticket count had dropped off.

He said he was told if he was slack at following simple laws how could he be trusted to follow firearms laws.

Well, start with "don't be a dickhead" and go from there.

I had a chat with my Snr Sgt mate and the message was simple - too many dickheads, too many incidents, too many stupid deaths. Dickheads, being dickheads, with firearms. They've gotta go, for their own sake as well as everyone elses.

I just look at all the alcohol empties I stumble across in the bush, normally at the good vantage points too. Sure as shit they are not going out there to fuck spiders.

    Greetings All,
Years ago I was the Range Officer at our local NZDA shoots. I spotted that some were having a quiet beverage with their lunch. I raised this at our next Committee Meeting and said that there should be no booze on the range and that anyone I saw drinking would not be shooting. This raised a bit of a ruckus one clot said something along the lines of "A bloke is entitled to his lunch". I never had to mention it again though.
    Regards Grandpamac.

A mate of mine told me that he was recently advised by a local cop to work on keeping his record clean for the next 7 years if he wants to get his current FAL license renewed once it runs out, as he has had a couple driving offenses over the last 3 years since his current was issued...
Pretty much echoed what @Bos has said above

I don't want to come across as too rude. However, I know that if you have a bad enough domestic that you and your partner are forced to have time apart at the direction of the Police, you will most likely have your firearms taken off during this period and likely have you're FAL reconsidered. This has been around for a long time and is nothing new and should not be a surprise. They may enforce this a little more often with more focus on firearm laws and how it is policed.

Fellas, up to you how to approach this... all good... you can choose whether or not you engage on this topic with a new member with 1 post... on this thread. Past events would suggest that the trolls are lurking, biding their time waiting to come stir things up.
