Anyone been up the poulter river latley, I am thinking about walking up there this weekend just curious as to how far you can get a quad bike up there.
Would hate to walk for 3 hours only to get passed by a quad!
Cheers

There were poisoning signs up that area when I was there last month. But I'm not sure if they are current or not as they weren't dated. Just FYI. I was on the track from Andrews Shelter so cant answer about quad sorry mate.
I know there is a group headed up there today for four days on Quads.
Cheers for the heads up, just looked at the DOC site and it looks like its getting poisioned from now till feb
Was up the first river a month or so back, just after the rain.
Cant recall seeing 1080 signs but the river being lower now should be ok.
Never been up in the weekends but I suspect it will be sandals, dreadlocks and short haired cankled women everywhere
Chris
Going to be a bit windy up there tomorrow
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
DOC website said there was significant damage from the big Canty winds and spring floods.
Arthur's Pass mountain biking tracks: North Canterbury and Arthur's Pass area tracks and walks
Just got back from Poulter today. First time. The track has been washed away in one section less than 1km from the car park. You can walk in still as there's some tracks through the bush. A group got mountain bikes in. As for quads nup I can't see it unless you can get them on to the riverbed and find a way up further down. There were some empty trailers in the car park though, but I'm fucked if I know how they got them in. We never saw them and the trailers were gone when we got back to the car park. Shrug.
Was a good trip aside from the lack of success. Learned a bit, but shame about the weather. Knew 100km gusts were coming but hit earlier than expected and ruined the afternoon and dusk.
