This might be a bit of a reach but I figured its worth a shot.

Im looking for some private land to hunt in Canterbury. I have been hunting DOC blocks with good success for the past few years but have had quite a few trips in several areas recently that have been a no go due to other hunting parties in the areas I planned to hunt. I figure its not really worth potentially disturbing people who are already in an area plus the mistaken identity side of things doesnt sit well with me. My hunitng opportunities are few and far between and I will still be hunting the public land as often as I can but somewhere to fall back on occasionally would be ideal. Im not interested in heads, just some meat animals to keep friends and family fed, happy to knock over goats, pigs, hare, possums and am more than happy to pitch in on the property but Im also happy to pay for access if preferred, either a yearly fee for access if arranged prior to arrival or per animal taken.

Flick me a PM if you have or know of somwhere that would be suitable. I can provide a reference from the land owner that I have been doing pest control for if that is any help.

I've found door knocking works really well. Don't turn up in hunting gear and dress tidy. Tell them the same stuff you've mentioned here, if you've got farming experience, offer to help out, jump on a hand piece, help in the yards etc. they can only say no. Having a box of beers in the truck can go a long way as well. Good luck
