ohhh dear as usual with 1080 lots of misinformation below directly from DOC website
"Although deer, goat, pigs and other introduced browsers are susceptible to 1080 poisoning, we don’t use cereal pellets containing 1080 to control their populations. "
it is against DOC policy to target deer with 1080 so it simply is not happening as a deer 1080 operation it will be for possums - DOC dont consult - the true meaning of consultation is one has yet to make up ones mind and is prepared to change ones mind - DOC have made up their mind - so they really only notify - and they only have to put a notice in a local paper and advertise it on their web site - thats it
someone on here raised the question of monitoring - well many 1080 operations these days are not monitored for possum population rat reduction - why well they claim with so many operations they know what the results will be so they save costs -

I believe they have started the 1080 drop, 3 helicopters been based up the coast

Bugger. It's the last block. They were supposed to do it as we flew in for our roar trip but kept getting put off. Was a real worry for us as we were not sure that water and meat was gonna be fine.
