I predict there will be an absolute shit ton of 2-3 year olds going hard that would have usually died last year being the youngest and dumbest. As for time got a video from a mate of one roaring yesterday somewhere in the country.

The adult hinds have their first estrus cycle around 20 March coinciding with photo period and that is when a lot of old stags do their rooting. At the next cycle three weeks later all the young stags are feeling their oats and thats when there is lots of noise

This years roar will likely go early throughout central north island. I think Easter will see the bulk of the action given the dates and moon and the tea leaves. I think late March will go hard. As above be a few youngins about!

Reds generally mid march early April, Sika usually 2-3 weeks behind. Have heard Sika hee-haw and red moan in CNI already.

Well, one got me all excited last weekend until I triangulated the stags position about 100m behind a deer fence bordering DOC land

I reckon level 4 lock down will be almost certain in a few weeks. It's all part of a long term management plan to improve trophy quality.

Farm stags opposite my house been going sporadically for about a week now. I'm going out on Saturday and then not again until after Easter as every man, his dog and his trigger happy mates will be about down here.

Farm stags here have given to odd roar in the last couple of weeks, but are starting to crank up now.

I'm hoping sika this weekend, fallow next weekend, and reds the weekend after that - only coz that's when I'll be chasing them!

Gonna be a early start here in the top of the south, we have green grass everywhere usually its burnt off dead dry.
Hinds gonna be in great condition and cycle early. ( to tone up for the boys )

I have from the 19th march to the 6th April booked off but gonna have to miss this roar too unfortunately.
