Purchasing products from Forest & Bird Sponcers .

Rite now is a good time to publish the business that support Forest & Bird , these people need $ to function, already due to complaints countdown pulled there sponsorship , if you go to the Forest and bird website you can see the list :

    The Collective Nz : yo@epicdairy.com

    HealthPak: info@healthpak.co.nz

    Heritage Expeditions: info@heritage-expeditions.com

    Evolve Jewellery: evolve@evolve-jewellery.co.nz

    JB HiFi : marketing@jbhifi.co.nz

    Kiwi Camping: https://www.kiwicamping.co.nz/support/contact

    Pure Nature: info@purenature.co.nz

    Solarcity: customercare@solarcity.co.nz

    Topflite : https://topflite.co.nz/contact-topflite-team-today

    Weta Digital: digital@wetafx.co.nz

After speaking to countdown they made it very clear in no way did they want to support any Tahr cull , The likes of kiwi camping should fully understand how important hunting is to us so don't hold back though be polite , I would imagine the thought of ending up on the no buy list of 48000+ hunters should pull some weight & hopefully some of the sponsors simply wont want to be implicated in the annihilation of an endangered species . I have sent a few e mails and await a response , same old story one or two emails wont cut it so take the time to contact them.Cheers.

Yea as it turns out last year they were running advertising with Forest & Bird , turns out after a number of complaints they have pulled out , that came from head office , I spoke to our local and they said they won’t even let them fund raise out the front

I knew they did the advertising, notsomuch the fact they have dropped it. I sent an email off to them at the time but never heard back.
I hate to say that I have on occasion still gone there (some things are just cheaper) but done my best not to otherwise. It still felt wrong though
Sounds like I wasnt betraying myself so bad after all

It's a fine line to walk for a business with customers on "both sides". Solution is to drop controversial sponsorships, but on the quiet.

Anyone got a good standard letter to send to F&B sponsoring businesses?

    Dear JB HiFi

First of all, I enjoy using your physical shop in Dunedin. Staff, even the security guards at the entrance, are always friendly. Some time ago we suffered a burglary and I will always remember the helpfulness of one of the Dunedin JB HiFi store owners in sorting out replacements for us with our insurance company.
That said, I was disappointed and uneasy to learn that JB HiFi has appeared on a sponsor list for NZ "Forest and Bird" society. F&B has a benign sounding name but it is not some benign nature protection organisation, nor has it respect for animals.

-- F&B supports extreme culls of threatened species such as Himalayan Tahr, which has found a survival niche in New Zealand. They are shot from helicopters and left to rot. That Tahr is a threatened species matters little to F&B, what matters to them is that it is a non-maori (non-indigenous) species and so does not belong in NZ, and native tussock grass is more important to save. That guided Tahr hunting is a multi million dollar industry down the impoverished NZ South Island West Coast area does not matter to F&B.

-- Remember the Pike River coal mine tragedy? The mine had an unhelpful 2 km access tunnel because F&B thought some limited local scenery in an inaccessible spot was more important, and 27 human lives ended up being lost through a mining operation that could have been straightforward and able to be cleaned up perfectly after completion. This again affected the impoverished NZ West Coast community, no doubt sponsored mainly by well-intentioned city-dwellers.

-- F&B is also strongly in favour of using mass drops of 1080 poison on public conservation lands. The NZ Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals opposes 1080 use, because 1080 poison is known to inflict intense suffering on animals. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/a...ectid=12202919

Thank you for your time in reading this. I humbly ask that JB HiFi considers quietly dropping your sponsorship support of NZ Forest and Bird.

    Yours sincerely

Moari are not indigenous in this country, please never refer to them as such in any text ever again.

Twig and tweet and the Minister of Destruction.

Luckily apart from Countdown I have never bought from any of those businesses and will continue to maintain that record.

I'm really pleased Countdown disassociated from Forest and Bird. I'll write to them and thank them.

    Edit: Done!
