    Pureora Forrest 1080

    Hi guys

Myself and Dad finally got some time together to hit the bush to try and find some venison for the Biltong box.
We've had an area in Southern Pureora planned but after our call with DOC today, found out that they've apparently nailed that area with 1080 a while ago and deer numbers are down.

    Siiigggghhhh

Does anyone have any advice on areas least affected by 1080 at the moment, in that general area of the country?

    OR

Where is the best info for this on the net (poisoning locations/status I mean). I can only find some maps on DOCs site showing very generic areas of poisoning activity. Unless I've missed something.

    Thanks!!

I would still have a look. There will be less other hunters to compete with.

Or maybe someone can confirm What doc has told us, because I've found info on their site suggestingnone of that area has been touched.

I'm talking about the Pureoras West of Waihaha - image from docs latest pesticide updates on their site...marked in red

This is the one you should be worried about... look on the doc page for Hauraki, Waikato, Taranaki

North parts were done last year and Rangitoto range and Ngaroma....

Drove up Barryville Rd off HW30 to DOC headquarters last week, 3 red hinds on road by the bridge, so some have survived.

Regardless of repellent being used or not im sure there is a three month stand down before you can take meat from the area
