I think all the hunters should form voluntary troops and shootout/trap the areas that get 1080 drop. (firearm safety & ethical hunting practice taken in consideration - so please no crap on that) - The 100 million per year or whateva the allocation may be for the area can be used by the troops for this work. (for ammo, food, flyin etc etc ). Has this kinda thing neva been negotiated.

I guess we would be on a win-win situation if approved to do so by getting the opportunity to do what we like doing the best while eliminating the 1080 issue as well.

90% of the hunters that go bush couldn't hunt/shoot for shit...the other 10% are made up of the dedicated few and the lucky one's...what you envisage would require the whole population of this country to take up hunting.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

I guess than we cant be just moaning about it for what DOC is doing. We don't like 1080 because our spots get wasted for a year or 2 but they have a bigger picture to look at. If we protest to have 1080 drops stopped than we sure need to get an alternative to the pest problem.

My views are not in favor for the 1080 drops, i hate that too but we need to think logically as well.. We all know we have a pest problem at hand that needs to be controlled so if its NO to 1080 than definitely there needs to be some other way round. Otherwise we will soon start to blame DOC again for the pests once they are out of control. lol

1080 aerial poisoning operations cost on average in excess of $57 per ha. Most trappers get paid nothing and pay their own way through recovery and sale of skins, fur and meat. The 1080poison industry is a scam directed at killing all introduced wildlife while sustaining massive unproductive bureaucracies. For every hectare that a trapper can recover possum products at zero cost from, another hectare is created that could have a $114 subsidy placed on it without any increased cost to the farmer, forest owner or taxpayer. When you work through the figures it becomes pretty obvious what is going on in reality.
