Found the same scenario in winter
They always seek a North facing might sidle a ridge
They don't move far and try too keep as warm as they can
Conserve energy
They could well be in real tight bush the last place you would expect to find them
Even tight overhead cover
Makes it hard to stalk them they will hear you coming before you hear them
