Actually half of that is bullshit but if you're dumb enough to believe it, I can't be arsed telling you which half

    Good on ya.
Defending that comment will probably get you a holiday as well, but if you think half of that being true is OK then that's a hard case position.

So your argument has gone from this is all true, to this is half true. But what if it's only a quarter true and more complex than a simple green check? That probably means its mostly wrong and therefore shouldn't be presented as an argument.

If that is aimed at me, it wasn't me that suggested half of it is bullshit - see 2 posts above yours where 308 said "Actually half of that is bullshit".

While the truth is often somewhat more nuanced than just a tick, stating that half the post is bullshit also means that half isn't. Maths, you can't escape it.

    Whoops. What have I started.

    Simple prose
    Said in jest
(thats a half truth, if at best)
Tongue in cheek but meaning it
    Passive aggressive from the hip
    Stirring up a hornet's nest
Perhaps a banning will be next

How much is true Ross? You are relying on two fallacies. First is that you are betting no one will risk a ban by providing information to prove you wrong, and second is the motte and Bailey approach of retreating too if half is true it's still bad.

Ill state its mostly untrue and that's as valid as your meme with no evidence.

I had intended to make my poem the last word on this, but here you go. I'd suggest we go to PM if you really want to debate the matter. I don't expect this post to survive long, and the original thread still deserves air time.

The only two that I couldn't agree more than I disagree with are the pedophilia and child trafficking - although the US Dept of Homeland Security's report does say that they are unable to account for some 300,000 children migrants, and that in some cases thousands are sponsored by the same address - which does seem somewhat dodgy.

And that is as valid as your also unsupported opinion - see how that works?

Yep I do see how it works. 308s basis for calling BS was valid as you say.

Id add that backing up an assertion of conspiracy, with more unproven/ partly true, or missing context conspiracies is pointless when things can well be explained rationally. And I'll give it a go.

In my time Ive engaged with and talked to enough senior DOC staff at regional management level or better, to know that they are using 1080 because they genuinely believe its the best tool they have, given their budget, and by and large the science supports that.

Is dropping poison at this time of year best bang for their Buck? that's worthy of debate for sure. But often it comes down to simple management decisions such as use it, or loose it.

Also having worked and confronted bureaucracy. Im well aware that without the need of conspiracy theories, You have to deal with human elements and peculiarities. It's very easy for a manager who believes they are correct, to do things that might not be in the spirit of legislation or everyone's best interest. It can easily become a case of their own little fiefdom.

Which is why Im a bit rough on conspiracy theories. Often they are a lazy way of laying blame, and the harm they do is obfuscate what real or potential issue is involved. If you lay the hate on "The man" you don't actually get to find out which man and just blame the entire system.

Yeah good they are using repellent, its been quite a few years since the last drop that really decimated the deer population. But the Hihitahi is a prime example of an area that could be done with traps and bait stations etc, there is vehicle access around the whole bush edge practically.

Must be a slow day in Welliewood today ? No witches being burnt at the stake, mayor staying off the bottle, or out of sight, councillors not kicking the snot out of each other ? ‘Tis time for a wee ode to jolly things up.
