Working in Queenstown this week on the Glenorchy road and have the weekend free for a hunt.
Anyone keen to get out or have any tips for a likely spot for a deer as I don't know the area so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt this is the message i got from my mate down there.
Not a lot of animals around the remarks: its all private land there. Head to glenorchy and take a walk up the dart valley. No hunting until he hits china, ans bluff / road end,,but look at maps, walk the track for an hour and look at the side creeks with clearings that come on down. Whitetail off the track and reds on the clearings / flats. A usually productive place.
Good luck Matt and let us know how you get on.

Dont shoot any whitetail in the moratorium area though.
The routeburn is always good for a look but a bit further to walk and more tourist asking what your doing with a bang stick. Deer an be hard to find with all the poaching that goes one but head up high for an antelope if you get bored.

I've seen chamois up the Remarkables, but you might need mountain skills to get to them...
Sweet job! I've seen them in the gullies above Queens Drive on the West Face, but that was in summer.
right above you is a block called 12 mile or something, mate went in the other week at dawn and walked out with a fallow.
