Thread: A quick heads up on Tataraakina blocks

Seems that due to prolonged rain, there are currently hunters stuck in some blocks at tataraakina off Taupo/Napier. They are not letting anyone else in till they get the others out, which due to a condemned bridge , could be a while.
Also hearing of double and even treble bookings, with partys getting turned away after long drive.
As if that is not enough to give the current management a headache (as well as hunters), there are some enterprising locals breaking into cars left at the bridge.
Given what these guys are charging for the blocks, I think they could do better

*obviously the weather is out of their control, but access isnt, and neither is security

Too many issues for this fat boy to bother even thinking about going in there.

Fark Pengy thats a real bummer....i would be slutted if that happened to my 'planned roar'.......stink......and then you get your car broken into to....mongrels!!!!

The management told a different story when my mate phoned them yesterday.
According to them they have not had any vehicle security problems.
The blocks are still open, but you may have to be tolerant and share your hut with "stranded" hunters (????) . I dont really get how they can be stranded if others can get in easily enough.
You may have to hire a quad to go accross (condemned) bridge to gain access, according to reports elsewhere. If this is in fact true, it sucks in my opinion.

I don't really know why Tataraakina is so popular to be honest.. Better hunting elsewhere and its FREE.

We were one lot that drove from the far North to Tataraakina to finally get told that the ford had given way and there was no way to get across and that hunters were stuck in there. We had booked 2 huts and we found out that they had been double booked. Not happy. This was the roar
