Quick trip to Clements mill rd

Had to take a drive to national park on Thursday to look at a caravan so decided on doing a round trip and take a quick look at Clements mill rd considering how much rain there had been and the fact the weather was clearing for Friday, camped out alone for once at the old mill site (usually 4-5 other groups of hunters)popular place..went for a wander at a spot I have be3n to a few times Friday morning and 500m from the road I run into this guy..back at the car by 9am…Name: image.jpg

I visited there on Saturday as botanising with the missus. Plenty of cars parked up, esp at start of Hinemaiaia where there should have been a man in orange vest directing traffic. Some sign just over the footbridge on rhs by the stream. I was surprised how the bush appeared to have large dry areas, interspersed by wetter underfoot patches.

I don’t hunt the area, but fwiw, Te Iringa car park had five cars, Hinemaiaia had at least eight including ours. One camp in old mill area, sporadic single park ups between te Iringa and Hinemaiaia.

That place never ceases to amaze me. It gets so much hunting pressure but just keeps producing.

Like the old East Taupo blocks once held by Air Charter, fully 9 months a year, got a bit of a rest over mid-winter, still plenty of animals
