Looks like you have a lot to learn, Generally there is no rimfire hinting in doc land only centrefire. ( unless under special permit very hard to get around here )

Also if your heading into doc controlled land you would be wasting your time and effect trying to chase small game, Deer are much harder but much for satisfying to hunt.
You are much better off heading out of town and going door knocking on some farms and trying to gain access.
What's your experience with firearms so far?
