About LinkBacksClearings used to get a hiding (dont know if thats changed) but might be worth a look. My suggestion would be climb higher and flycamp out. Ive had good success within 100-200 m of the upper bush edge. Alternatively go in to mangaehuehu from the turoa road and hunt down into it, that was what I did more often than not.
