How far up these catchments can you drive
I know you can get in to St Winifreds but how far can you get up the Clyde and Lawrence river
Just one area we are looking at flying in to in six weeks time
thanks

all depends on river flows from what I understand....wouldnt want to drive in with big rain in forecast...might be a long wait till could get home again.....
@Micky Duck we are flying in but when you are from the wrong island we don't want to fly in to a area only to find out all the locals drive in,
Its freakon hard trying to find a area with no local knowledge.
Then you find a area and its a roar ballot block or no fly zone
So hoping some kind forum member might be able to tell me
sorry bud Im wrong fella to answer your question...from what Ive heard/read the last few years its VERY busy up there during roar period....I was up there couple years back just before tharmageddon and we saw 14 vechiles for weekend... hopefully one of the guys in the know will come along and help you out via PM....
thats why we planned our trip end of april after the roar main animal is tahr for us
Honestly to get to mistake flats is pretty easy and can get a lot further up if you don't mind bouncing your way up. Haven't been up too recently but I've seen quite a few trucks go past Mistake flats I just never bothered. Likely have it to yourself if your in midweek but mistakes flats in a pretty short walk from St Winifret
went up to st winifred last labour day on quads, lots of fun but i personally wouldnt take a ute up there without some extensive mods, as Stocky said it can get very bouncy especially if you loose the track. didn't see anything but it was sleeting/drizzle. generally speeking we got told the rangitata has to be around the 80m3 for quads max.
Thanks for the replys I have had a pm with alot of info. Top bloke
