    Raukumara hunt

Went for a hunt in the Raukumara ranges on Wednesday (back Saturday). Had a great time getting a wet arse in the million crossings of the Motu river. Used my Ashleys this time, so NO snorkling!!. Went with a mate and my son, who bagged two young goats and two deer. Took all the meat. One deer was shot standing in my old camp site
Time spent in the maimai and hills with my son is precious. I am one lucky bastard.

Excellent stuff Lentil. I have never been in the Raukumara ranges but I hear that there is some real step country in there.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Yep -it's steep alright. We were in Motu area of Raukumara. I tend to stick to the easier areas. Some of the country in there just scares me!!

Good stuff. Certainly is some rugged country draining into the Motu.
