Realistic cost to hunt Moose in Yukon ??

After any info on an all up cost to hunt Moose in the Yukon or if it’s realistically possible to do Tags licences etc , any recommendations of outfitters?? There’s so many on the intraweb and all seem to differ in pricing, if anyone has done it or has any info it would be greatly appreciated Cheers

Depends on where you hunt but on average its around 15k US in BC plus 10% tip for guide whether you kill or not. I love the tips they doubled my wage
Cooks and wranglers have to be tipped as well then you have to get the bloody thing home.
I have just got back to the world. We had an awesome moose season.
Only one hunter missed out but he was early and the rut was late where we were.
I managed to get a very nice moose for a client last week but struggled to find a good bull earlier during the rut.
I seen 2 bulls that would be as good as any Alaskan or Yukon animal but they were not recoverable so they were left alone.

Have done 2 seasons in BC, way up near the Yukon border, in 2016 it was about US$15000 for a week to 10 day moose hunt. Thats just the hunt cost - then you gotta get there, and be prepared to tip, on average about $100 per day for your guide and some for the wrangler or junior guide and camp cook etc. Amazing animals to hunt, well worth the trip. And so bloody big!

Thanks Husky !! Hope the trips were successful. From what I’ve read is the only real option a fully guided hunt?, being an alien non resident hunter

My hunt in 2002 cost only $6900 US which was good but the exchange rate was only .42 cents US for our dollar so I ended up paying about $ 14 000 NZ for my hunt alone( in Alaska ) then there was the air fare , hotel bills, getting the head and head skin processed, shipping it back to NZ, and so on. Very expensive but a trip of a life time . You will be up for at least $18,000 to $25 000 Canadian for a Moose hunt these days plus all the other bits. Make sure you specify what you want eg 60 plus inch spread , or maybe three to four brow points a side and make sure that they are available in the outfitters area. Some areas may only have a 50 inch average. Good luck and generally the closer to the Alaskan border the bigger the moose.

Before you decide check out the Moose on the Kamchatka peninsula. Direct flight to Japan then across to Russia. Google Kamchatka Hunting

Yeah mate ...all sounds good on paper with the photos.

In the early 80s I flew out of Wales Alaska (that’s where we crossed over)Flew twin otters on hunting trips to the peninsula.A variety of hunts..mostly moose, and grizz, and the occasional wolf, they are a big animalthere. We were chartered into various camps, into uelen, and laverentiya area, some with airstrips, some had roads that were used as airstrips.

Expensive shit by all accounts and most, rough as guts.Talk about some very shady characters, the clientele, mostly yanks and very well off Germans were the bulk, you would get a few yarpies and the rest Europeans, had a couple of oz boys once.My point be careful how you tread there.Admittedly, this was a long time ago,and I’m sure things have changed, they have.

After reading Moas piece I called a mate In anchorage to see if he could get me some info on anyone still doing the charters. He basically explained that it has become too expensive for most, several accidents, fatal, have meant tough restrictions. They have operators out,sure,...my advice,if you decide to take this adventure, and it surely is a remarkable place, make the effort to try and contact those who have done a hunting trip there.

I always asked the clients how it went,(I was just the taxi),some were over the moon, some, the worst thing they had ever done.....never hunted there myself,so it’s a moot point......but the peninsula,is an incredible piece of property

I have a friend who used to operate a 'Safari Lodge' business. He told me about Kamchatka and has hunted there several times. I could ask him who to use. Anyway Jim told me that the Kamchatka moose were on average bigger than Alaska.

I was working 90 km East of Dease Lake, all the moose taken in that area were 60" plus, and had to have at least 3 points on the bottom tyne, or 10 total overall on one side, so pretty big. Can post some pics sometime if I only knew how!
