Record breaking Tahr shot by Oamaru man

I believe a new record tahr has been taken by an Oamaru man, he even has the bullet scar on the bonnet of his car to show for it.

There will be some on here that know the story and can probably chime in but I understand it measured 16 on one side and 15.48 on the other.

He is a top hunter in his own right and took said tahr with a rest off the bonnet of his car and the projectile skimmed the bonnet on the way to it's target, nothing short of a well judged/placed shot.

Wasn’t shot in the general vicinity of Timaru was it? I know of a localised small population there that has some big boys amongst them, but they’re living off nearby farmers’ cereal crops.

I don't think so, I believe it was local but was on a property that still allowed it to be a NZ record.

Ha ha hes hardly going to tell everyone about the good bits, he is parading around very happy with himself.

I don't think the bonnet will worry him too much
