    My point, which you only partially understood, was that many don 't know the difference between a northing-easting and lat-long coordinate systems as they have only used a GPS system.

    You, @Sauer, are correct the northing-easting need reference to a location.
    It was an additional point that I didn't make because that wasn't relevant to my post. Thanks for your post.

    And of course there are more technical details around the use of lat-long, GPS, coordinate systems that I did not mention either because they weren't relevant too.

    Should add, if you haven't hunted in the Sth Is yet, its best to go with someone and not be too ambitious, it might take a couple of trips to get really proficient - the Southern Alps and especially its rivers, are not that forgiving of poor preparation or haste.

    Cheers for that mate. Yea I have been hunting down there few times b4. Just doing bit of homework for next trip in year or twos time.
