    Reds using wallows already.

Went for a hunt today, was abit surprised at a handy wallow near the car a good size stag had a field day in it.
Took me back in time to last roar. Only a day or so old, followed the mud and marks for awhile, sussed out what ridge he went on but because of wasps didn't look for him too hard, Checked out another wallow further up the face, same thing, been used, some stag marks but heaps of pigs have been around as well on that one. Start of the month in another area a wallow I checked out had stags marks thur that ntoo, so set my game camera up, see what it gets.
Last year the wallows didn't get used much, only by the odd pig until march came around then the deer and stags moved in. Looks like this year the stags are using then quite early...maybe a early roar??
Last year on a good wallow that always has action I set the gam cam up right though Jan. Not one animal went to it. Was used in march thou. Weather wasn't quite as hot but it didn't rain for the whole month last year so similar conditions but stag sign seems to be everywhere this year

Up a creek 2 weeks ago, onto a small bench the beginnings of a wallow,he'd only done a couple of rotations/stomping the headed back the way he came in.
    Same as with wasps.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

I assume they do, but like I said, in this area the stags don't seem to come into the areas I hunt until March as the last couple of years theres been no sign of stags in Jan or early FEB , the Wallows don't get used hardy apart from pigs and maybe the odd hind. This year is different, stag sign is plentiful, areas look more like the start of the roar. Wallows being used, stags have moved in a good month early....tends to suggest something different is happening. Maybe its going to be a early roar here...maybe, maybe not but something is happening from the norm that's for sure

Do you have pics of the stag, is it not a hind, assume you have seen something to indicate stag?? How many years have you hunted this spot,

The marks are clearly stag marks, ones a very big one. Same as some of the trees around the wallows, some rub marks from antlers, maybe rubbing the last of the velvet off maybe.
Seen stag droppings in the surrounding area as well and have hunted these places from the last 5--6 years...next to no stag sign esp around wallows in summer until late FEB and esp March.
I have the game cam set up where a good stag was using one of the wallows so I get that end of feb and re set in hot spot. Previous two years since had game cam I always set up at wallows thinking the hot weather in summer bring animals in...no pictures of stags, only odd pig and a couple of deer. One of the biggest wallows around here the whole of Jan last year not one animal went to it until March then it was a highway. This year theres stags there already.

We had hinds on the farm that would paw up soft areas in the paddocks & make a wallow, quite often used to see them standing in the dam in summer.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
