Hey now I think of it, the main orongorongo valley is administered under doc. Only the water collection areas are run by gwrc. You would be safe to hunt most if that main orongo valley on your doc permit. I think once you are in the northern area, rimutaka incline, orongo and wainui river heads its gwrc. Hard to get access way in there tho. WAMS can show you the doc (green) and council (yellow) boundaries.

Btw have been caught out on a few waterfalls in the area as well so be prepared to back track andsidle throiugh acres of supplejack etc. Also if wind is on the forecast watc out on top!
