He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.
You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !
Thanks again guys for all the info, this will keep me google checking spots and roads, I know they are well used, but deer have legs and walk so I will be doing the same. Keneff is" littles clearing" off the Gentle Anne rd, what`s the name of the accesses rd in to it, but could be a bit far to go from AK , have to keep the peace in the home camp."You are going where" Will be looking at going away in September, spring grass feeding time, looking at Okahu rd camp at this stage, but will keep looking , best to learn all about a spot so you know it. Cheers guys.
Just got back from a drive up the Okahu... Fark it's taken a hammering from the cyclone... Will be hard hunting and definitely 4wd for a long time!![]()
Did you drive right to end of the road?we were there when the rain came-the creek was huge with 3-4 ft boulders rolling down.Had to leave vehicles there for 4 weeks till the scratched atrack for us-bit of a mission for the Hiace van!! Is the main road open yet to turn off?We had to get escorted thru Kaiangaroa to Minginui when we got vehicles out. They are meant to be fixing Okahu Rd sometime in the Summer.
Drove to end of road...4wd only... No its or buts!Road still closed between Murupara and Te Whaiti, forestry open to residents only apparently... We musta looked like locals, hoodies up, smiling to everyone we drove passed.. Main road hopefully open end of this month according to security.. It's a freaking mess in there!
Well pickle me bloody agates, P38, Biggun,Thanks for the heads up on Okahu rd,, that's off the list. Clements rd has gone to the head of my A list, a bit more searching for . b, c. This is what I have to watch out for with the poor old family car, O to win lotto.
. Then there's flying in, but looking at the prices would need five guys to keep it down at bit, I'm retired, moneys tight, well we could all be in that boat, will keep looking.

Littles clearing is in the eastern Kaweka off Whittles road.
Probally struggle to tow a caravan in there with a Ford Focus.
