Just had a few days in north Canterbury, stags are going off..... only had my phone and a bluetooth speaker (no rifle) managed to get 4 going at the same time, replies for half an hour or so but no one came to say hello. Private land but sure a couple were on the neighbouring doc block

Tip for anyone, find the you tube clip stag roaring under 2m... that gets them fired up or there are a few free apps. Bluetooth speaker is amazingly loud when its calm and quiet in the hills
Danny, Micky Duck and piwakawaka like this.

Interesting. In central Canterbury two nights ago I had three
different stags come in for a look at me. One scruffy young pup with a couple of hinds, a big bodied ten holding three hinds, and an unseen stag that quietly walked up a few metres behind my mate and scared the bejeezus out of him with a couple of grunts as he winded him and took off. Roaring was pretty quiet though.
