Nothing heard in the Kaimais on Saturday. Spent the whole day up there balls deep in shit (SJ etc). Lots of sign, plenty of trails getting use, and found a clearing and a few feeding areas. Fly camp required soon me thinks.

Fuck this new marriage bills probably screwed it? Gay stags, what next? Tobys maybe right
Didnt hear alot of action considering i went out from march to end of april here and there. Only heard two stags roar that i didnt have to provoke first to get them to roar. Havnt heard a sound for 3 weeks .The my ten pointer i got two weeks ago didnt roar and week before when i saw him he was silent even thou a 4 pointer was roaring and answering me 200m down the hill where he was. I say its over around here .
Mate just came back from gizzy way, said he got four animals and they were still roaring. Guess it depends where in the country u r eh???

Unfortunately most don't understand this and say it's two hot, cold, windy, they are all shot, none here..........
Once the hinds in the area you hunt have had a shag the only thing you'll here is your footsteps.

Ahh the birds and the bees speach:):D
Was like a deserted highway. Game trails like a labyrinth but no sign at all, just one lonely stag passing through a long time ago from what we could find until we did a long slog inwards.
Not in the kaka corridor, didn't even bother going anywhere near there. Used to hunt that area a lot on the wairarapa side in the early days, remember about ten years ago sitting on a ridge by totara flats at 5am watching the shapes of dear slowly emerge from the most and gloom... Was magic. Imagine that's all long gone now. Not sure what the answer to much needed pest control is but blanket poisoning everything doesn't seem very clean and green. If we could trust people to take in 22's and not kill bird life then that would be a start, the only living thing I saw was a bloody big black possum. Wanted to send him a 150g soft point present at 2,700 ft/sec but didn't want to stuff up the chances of my morning stalk...

Lone farm stag still roaring but I guess that doesn't count. Still heard a few sika in the Kaimanawas on an overnight trip on wednesday/thursday.
