Too be honest I am sure it will work out the same as it has every year I have chased roaring stags. Larger ones will go a bit earlier and the rest will carry on as normal. Cold snaps have no bearing on when a stag will roar in my experience. More to do with the hinds and daylight. I have heard them give the odd bellow in Feb. Just testing the water I reckon.
If you do hear a wild stag going for it in the next week or 2 I would spend every spare minute I had trying to get a look at it.
