New parking system is a joke. A lot of unhappy people.

Yea fuckn joke. Just find someone with a mobility pass and you’re in. At least the crowds are smaller.

Yea, used to drive up at 0500 on Saturday and get there for around 0930 but couldn't get a park last time so booked a shuttle. It worked well but since then they've been turning back shuttles because of numbers so no way i'm driving all the way up there AND paying for a shuttle and then getting turned around on the road... it's a shocker.

It's not as if the skiing conditions are even very good up there!

Joined a club, sit and sip coffee by the fire and watch the fiasco unfold, do the 3 minute walk to the sky waka for a board once the queues die down

    Best thing we have done

Whats the cost like? Less than the platinum pass?

    Each club is different

It’s an investment up front, the joining fee is a bit but that’s once off, was $1k for family of 4.
Subs are not much, $190pa for a couple, kids are cheap.

It’s the accommodation savings and parking hassles that really make the difference though.

We pay $45 a night per adult and $30 per child, that’s fully catered with awesome meals.
So no carting groceries up the mountain, ski bags and a small bag for the family for a week. I leave the booze in the car and get out as we need.

No early mornings to get there, 5 minute walk to the lifts, and with small kids it means that when they are over it you can just take them back to the lodge, always other kids to play with and head back up for a board.

We have a blast there, even when the weather is shit there are always good people to meet and talk to. I do drink way too much there

I was a member of Otaihape for many years and doing 40 to 50 days sking a season.
Old skiing injuries have taken their toll and now just look at the big iceberg from my fence lines and reminisce of my past glory days!
This was back when Franz Brandl managed the tavern and Laurenze Reiser was the boss of ral and the tbar under chateau was our playground after the tavern chucked us out!
    Happy memories!

    Jesus Christ, 40-50?!?!?!?!

I thought I was doing well when we were averaging 20-25 days a year.
