    Scotts Road

    Kiaora folks
Anybody hunted up Scotts road? I'm living about 10 mins from the start of Scotts road (Palmy)so tempted to get the key but don't want to go through the rigamarole of paying for it and getting it if I'm better off just in the Ruahines.
I don't know whether to assume being the closest spot to town it has been hammered and there is nothing there or that having to egt a key means people have been put off and there are in fact animals around?!? Any advice on Northern Tararuas vs Southern Ruahines would be appreciated!
    Cheers

There's a few animals in there, does get a bit of hunter pressure though. Like anywhere if you scout around and put some time and effort in you should do alright.

Good old scotts road that may or may not be where I shot my first deer. Heaps of deer in there but as people have said hunting pressure is ridiculous. I kid you not there can be up to 7 vehicles if not more spotlighting at night, even though the whole area in gordon kear forest (scotts rd) is actually illegal to hunt it is only meant to be an access point to the tararuas. Once you get into the tararuas there can be quite a few deer in there, me and a mate shot 3 one morning. So end of the day I wouldn't bother with just the gordon kear but if you get the key study the map you should be able to figure out access points into tararuas I won't give them to ya cause I got told and when I did they said don't tell anyone and can be quite hard to find.
