Thread: Scrape??

Hi all. Just wanting your opinion on this poor punga.
Have come across a few of these and always assumed deer. Am I right??

hard to see in that pic... whats the green at the base?? is it moss or broken ferns??

Its moss Id say. Its very dense and has what I would best describe as leaves. Looks like its living on it. Not sure if that really makes sense.
The whole scrape was about a meter isn high, maybe a little more. Pig?
The area around it was well used, and found deer poo. Sort of answers my question, but thought deer markes would be higher.

There is a farm about 2-3km away.
I have come across it quite a bit in Pureora.

No idea mate, was a mental note i took from seeing similar things in the Pap hills then came across a cow miles from any farm. Gave me a hua of a fright btw
