Its not uncommon to team up with a more experienced hunter so your idea is a good one. Quite a few are keen to pas on whatevrr they ve learnt themselves. The best place to meet is face to face via mutual frein,ds or at a club trip.

I shot my first deer on a bushcraft course with the upper hutt branch under the expert guidance of Robin Blake. I still see qiite a few of those guys around on the rifle range sevrral decades later. Anothrr idea is to join a tramping club like hvtc or ttc. There are usually a few hunters there. Also you ll get a good grounding in bushcraft there ( dare I say it- more so than with straiht out hunters) and see a lot of great country that you can later choose from for hunting trips.

Since your identity is just new on the forum you could change your username to something more wholesome like "oleria" "greywacke" "karearea" etc. Have a look through the alphabetical list in this site to get an idea ir good and cringeworthy handles.
