    Old school... With just compass. Hang bit of toilet paper from shooting spot .take bearing to animal. Set dial.go to where you think it is,take back bearing EG don't put "red in the shed" put white end of needle in shed,then move sideways till your compass pointing back at loo paper.your now either on bullet path or past animal... With known range it's easier still as know which way to head. Or do GPS flag at shooting spot. Range to animal is known,bearing is known so head over where you think it is.move until your distance from shooting spot is right and bearing is 180 degrees from previous

    You’re assuming everyone knows how to use a compass and navigate competently @Micky Duck. These days the number of people that can’t navigate, even with a GPS, possibly outnumber those that can. It never fails to amaze me how many can’t even find north or south by sun and time of day.
