Thread: Sika Show - Worth entering a red?

I shot a nice public land red stag earlier this year and am wondering if it's worth entering in the show. He's all mounted up and ready to go on the wall, I read in the rules that they need to be able to drill the skull to DNA test heads but I'm assuming that is only for sika/hybrid determination. Can anyone confirm if I can enter a fully mounted head?

I also looked at the winning scores for the reds last year and mine wouldn't have been close (the top public land head scored 382DS). Is it worth a nudge with my little 319DS head?

I also noticed the private land winner was much smaller (267DS), did they perhaps get the scores the wrong way round and the 267 was actually the public land stag? Or did no one enter the estate section assuming it would have to be a mutant monster?

Just spoke to one of the judges, yes fully mounted accepted.

Enter it, if you were prepared to have it mounted show it off.

I definitely think it's worth showing off. I guess my question was more around whether or not it is eligible and if it is, am I in the running for a prize?

@Dorkus how did your head turn out? you just get it back? You better put up another pic off it mounted Waiting for mine to be finished can't be far away.

This is the only decent pic I have of it mounted, "interesting" pose from @Philipo adds a bit of flavor.

The one the taxidermist sent through is a bit blurry. I'm yet to get my hands on it. And there's a couple of it where I found him.
