While logic says it must change point of impact to some degree it must be minimal cos the old mans 3006 has barrel mounted sling swivel and shit just falls over, he will rest the barrel on a branch/post/ fencewire etc never seen him miss with it. certainly not ELR tho!
His 223 on the other hand seen a few misses with that

Re: Sling on top of Barrell ?

Duley attaches the sling around the barrel so it cant make shit all difference cause we all know how far he shoots

    Lol serious?
I made a 1st rd hit at 2050yds the other day (witnessed by forum member) with sling not on the barrel - does that make it the best way because it was a long way??

? Cd was suggesting it mustn't have a lot of effect even at long range in terms of becoming a variable. You seem to have taken the option of reading into it fromsome other angle

Reposted for spanners. Seems to have missed this one...
If it became an added variable at range its effects would show at the ranges duley has used it to. Seemingly the effects are either non existent or negligible so he logic is sound. It seems competition has removed objectivity in some

i reckon whatever u do, no barrell sling / sling , dildo/no dildo, as long as its repeatable you should get repeatable results?

    Opps -- did miss it
It wasnt that its right or wrong, more so the logic that if Mr W does it, then it must be ok - thought it was a bit blind and was a pisstake to begin with to be honest

    Competition? none at all

I had one on a lightweight 50bmg, it was fantastic for a big gun, sat across me gut and could walk hands free, one on end on the barrel other round the stock, was easy as to take on and off
