    Snow on the Kawekas

    Greetings All,
Just looked out the window and there is snow on the Kaweka tops, Not just a little bit either. Mid December we had 30 plus degree days and the grass was brown. Since then we have had over 100mm of rain, max temps are in the teens and the grass is green and full steam ahead. I guess the La Nina is here.
    Regards Grandpamac.
PS Will have to get that bloody mower out again.

    Greetings,
We had a very dry Spring in HB, barely 50mm total on our place. We have had over 70mm since Christmas day. I jokingly suggested lighting the fire earlier. Doesn't seem that funny now.

I feel pretty sorry for people who only get their summer holidays at Christmas New Year and haven't seen the sun, haven't been able to swim and haven't been able to do any of the things they might have planned.

So far this year it's rained at some stage every day.
Several days were very heavy sideways rain and bloody cold.
It's raining sideways again now from the south so you guys up north might get another light dusting over night

I remember reading somewhere about a Central North Island high country sheep station losing 2,000 or 20,000 sheep or some such horrendous number to a massive snow storm in late December, back in the 1920's.
