    South Island fallow.

Hi guys. I'm on the scrounge and trying to get some information on where to find reasonable numbers of fallow to hunt in the South Island.
With my usual haunts being around Arthur's pass, (I'm in ChCh) I'm lucky to have some good hunting for reds, pigs and chamois but it would be nice to chase something different for a change.
Any info would be very much appreciated!

Southland/Otago - Blue Mountains, Hokonuis, Greenstone/Mavora off the top of my head but there are probably some closer to you as well.

Last population estimate of the Blue mnts was over 2000 individuals. That enough for you?

Jeez Wirehunt your selection criteria is tougher than that of 1 Ranger Squadron (SAS) even they let in a odd North Islander (or someone that knows one) every now and then.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Have heard the Blue mountains have a decent herd, tracking them down will be the difficult bit.
Are they reasonably well spread throughout?

2000 is a good population but that could be over a huge area! I shall have to get my boots on and have a look...suggestions of good areas to start would be great!

I do get up to the north island occasionally...I still owe a Sika a lead friend from my last unsuccessful hunt in the Kaimanawas! Sneaky buggers!
