Thread: South island trip advise (Twizel tahr?)

Hi guys,

I am doing a trip with my family down the south island for a family get together and am keen to get abit of fishing and hunting in.
My wife came with me to the Sika show in Hamilton and fell in love with the Tahr heads and now she wants one which leads me to this question.

I am going to be staying in twizel for two nights and am curious if there are any spots around there I could venture out with her and try our luck at one.
After twizel we will be traveling to gore for a few days then home from there so any spots along that route would also be very helpful.

I appreciate any advice or tips so that I can hopefully get my better half into hunting (Making it then easier for myself to get out..... Im dreaming I know!)

Yes Mark is great to fly with

lots of good family friendly easy fishing very close to Twizel.... whatever you decide to do,think of it as a sight seeing trip and fish or animals as a bonus...you will enjoy it more that way.

You will see Thar in the upper Twizel river. Just need to pick up the gate key for the 4WD track. See DOC website. The DOC office in Twizel are great with advice on where to go and places they have seen animals
