I have done some research in the internet but I guess buying some proper hunting books will help me more.
I haven't got any bush skills so that is what I am worried about.
I will just go to kaimai on this friday or sunday and have a walk to see what it is like there.
Also I will ask for some advise from some archery club members.
Thank you Gibo for all your good responses!
One more bit of advise if i can mate, don't go off the track in the Kaimais if you don't have navigating gear or skills. We want to hear about your first success with your bow, not that you have gone missing
Start slow and start at the basics

    Thanks Gibo.
I just got the permit for Kaimai.
I will be safe and I will be having fun with or without catching anything.
But I am pretty sure I will come home with some trout
I will let you know if I do catch anything or see anything.

Sounds good. Thought about joining your local deer stalkers club? What part of the Waikat ate you in?

    I live at Cambridge.
Isn't deer stalkers club for people who want to shoot with guns?
I am looking at a tracks and walk brochures for Kaimai.
Am I suppose to go Mangakino pack, and Crimson thread track where it is not specified in brochure for people to go?
Oh well I will just go and see it myself!
That will be the best start.

Kaimais are the good place to bow hunt for deer. Get a map and a compass , find a spot that suits you and get too know it.
You will find sign as soon as you leave the tracks , but take it slow , don't go too far till your used too following the compass back too where you started. The north south track is a good place for a beginner too start out , but leave your self plenty of daylight too get out and if your in a hurry slow down , ITS FASTER IN THE THICK STUFF IF YOU GO ABIT SLOWER.
All the deer ive shot up there were well within range of a well placed arrow .
    Good luck .

Thank you everyone for all your positive and help feed backs. These will help me so much.
Mohawk I will try the track!
I am not used to these topo maps so I will have to look at it for ages to fully understand where and how to go.
I will probably print it and take it with me.
I almost forgot about compass! Thank you for reminding me

    yep i will do that
By the look of it, I think deer comes very near to the track.
I found dropping 5 meters from the track and found fresher darker looking dropping just 10 meters away.
    Good signs!
