Like I said , north south track is a good place too start , but don't get too carried away till your confident using a compass too get back too where you started . Your either going too head east or west too return too the track so its not rocket science , just don't panic and leave yourself plenty of time too return.
Spook has a good point about wounding critters with the bow , perhaps you just spend some time in there with a camera until you start finding some good country .
The archery club sounds good , but the nearest bow hunters club would be a better idea.

I found this organization called bowhunters society.
I'm planning to join them. It was pretty hard to move around off track with all the thick vegetation and my bow keep snagging to all sorts of thing.
Next week I will go deeper into the wood where I found the droppings.
Hopefully I will find some deer trails with foot prints next times.

The crap you are snagging on is probably supple-jack...the Kaimai's are notorious for it...but then the deer frequent some of the worst country known to man.

I hate those vines. when I take one off the bow there is another one snagging on to the bow.
